The perceived non-uniformity in the joint pattern includes:

• Deficiencies in the alignment of the joints between square or rectangular tiles in relation to a theoretical orthogonal layout
• Differences in joint width, at a short distance, between adjacent tiles
• Departures from plumb and level in the vertical and horizontal joints of a tiling

In all cases, the visual inspection needs to be accompanied by verifications with a rule and bubble level, and measurement of the deviations with a tape measure. It is necessary to reach the tile edges, so that the measure of the deviations will correspond with the manufacturing size and not with the bevel or rounded edge of the glaze.
